The presidential election is less than a month away, so let’s take a look at where the candidates stand. This year, the two contenders for the presidency are Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
We already know Trump as a charismatic and confident figure who is unafraid to speak his mind to the media. On the other hand, we have Kamala Harris, the former vice president under Joe Biden.
Recently, Donald Trump released his electoral program. Here are some of the promises he made:
- Secure the border and stop the influx of migrants.
- End inflation and make America affordable again.
- Make the U.S. the world’s leading energy producer.
- Transform the United States into a productive superpower.
- Defend the Bill of Rights and fundamental freedoms.
- Prevent a third world war and restore peace in Europe.
- Rebuild cities like Washington D.C., making them safe, clean, and beautiful once more.
These promises focus on restoring the U.S. economy and helping Europe regain peace.
Kamala Harris, a confident leader, has quickly won a significant number of supporters. Like with Trump, let’s take a look at her electoral platform:
- Support Ukraine and Israel in their conflicts.
- Raise taxes for those earning more than $400,000.
- Reduce healthcare costs and improve access to health insurance.
- Offer tax relief to startups, increasing the threshold from $5,000 to $50,000.
- Cancel student debt and provide tuition relief for many students.
As we can see, the two platforms are very different. Trump has made a lot of ambitious promises, but it remains to be seen if he can fulfill them. On the other hand, Harris has made fewer promises, but they may be more achievable.
Now that we have reviewed the candidates and their platforms, let’s look at the current state of the race. As of October 3, 2024, Kamala Harris is leading the polls with a consistent 5% advantage over Donald Trump.
